chimiexpo 09

North Africa’s Premier International Exhibition for the Chemical and Para-chemical Industry
June 02 - 05, 2009
Casablanca International Fairgrounds, Morocco

Economic boom fuels growth:
North Africa’s chemical industry ready to invest
The chemical and para-chemical sector in the North African countries enjoys an unparalleled level of growth. Thanks to a strong economic upswing in all North African countries, and consistently high oil and gas revenues especially for Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Egypt, the growing population‘s disposable income is rising.

As the chemical and para-chemical industry is crucial for the innovation processes in many sectors, the current boom related to the oil and gas industry, agriculture and food and drinks production, packaging and plastics, building and construction, consumer and household goods, medicine, pharmaceutical and cosmetics, printing and publishing contributes to the huge increase in demand for the chemical and para-chemical industry. Hundreds-of-million dollars are currently invested into the modernisation and upgrading of the chemical and para-chemical industry in all North African countries.

Whereas until a few years ago, the Moroccan chemical and para-chemical industry, for example, had produced up to 90% for the local market only, the vision of the sector has now changed. Morocco targets to become a winner in the globalisation process. Higher export rates have officially been put on top of the agenda. According to figures compiled by the Moroccan Federation of Chemistry and Para-Chemistry, the country’s chemical and para-chemical sector counts 2 265 enterprises and 95 000 employees, a stake of not less than 37% of the country’s gross domestic industrial product.

A perfect time for the major meeting place for the entire industry, chimiexpo 09!
